About me

Marina Ortiz García

Hello! I am Marina Ortiz García, a Spanish violinist that came to The Netherlands because I couldn’t settle for what I knew about me and my violin. I did my Master at Fontys University of Fine and Performing Arts, following the violin lessons of Lei Wang and Jolente de Maeyers and the chamber music lessons of Paul Uyterlinde. I also focussed in the educational research called: The three moments of the violinist, methodology that I use in my lessons.

Currently, I’m teaching violin at Arriaga Violin School and Mijn Muziekles School in Eindhoven, as well as playing at Brabant Chamber Orchestra (Tilburg) and Orquesta Ciudad de Segovia.

I think for an artist is very important to communicate what they are feeling. As every person is different, every student is different too and requieres a different way of teaching. Some of them are shy and needs to gain  confidence, others  too brave and need to contain their energy in some type of music. The artist is an actor and needs to be able to play every kind of characters.

My work as a teacher is helping the students to think about what they want to do with the music as well as giving them the tools to reach their musical goals.

I would like to share some of the quotes that led me to love the music and the pedagogy.

"The important thing is the way and on it,

fall, stand up, insist, learn"  El mago de Oz

"One finger indicates the moon, unhappy those who look at the finger"

Dominique Hoppenot, "The inner violin"

Think on the sound that you want and prepare to get that. Rubén Redondo

"Less is more" Mies van der Rohe

"You are like a tree: when the wind blows, you move with him" Marisa García Dieguez

Introduction and rondo capriccioso, Camille Saint Saëns
